    I think the problem first emerged with 6.10.3 … and has something to do with the integrated AMD GPU.

    Steps

    1. connect your phone using a USB to your FreeBSD system
    2. enable USB tethering from your phone’s settings
    3. On your FreeBSD box the following msg pops up on the console:
      urndis0 on uhub4 urndis0: <RNDIS Communications Control> on usbus2
    4. run ifconfig to see the new ue0 interface
    5. get an IP address assigned to your system using dhclient ue0
    6. Enjoy !!

    Even Bcachefs that is out like a year and not even that mature has better speeds … XFS was the fastest in almost every benchmark.
