“It’s basically a complete redesign of how you add accounts (like email, calendars, etc.) in Thunderbird. The old setup system worked, but it looked a bit dated, could be confusing with its tab-based approach (easy to accidentally close!), and wasn’t very consistent across different account types.
The Account Hub aims to fix all that. It provides a single, unified, modern-looking wizard inside a pop-up window (modal) to guide you through setup. For brand new users, this modal will guide them without letting them get lost before their first account is ready.”

- Make the working directory with: mkdir tb-build && cd tb-build
- wget https://hg.mozilla.org/comm-central/raw-file/tip/python/rocboot/bin/bootstrap.py (downloads the Python bootstrap script)
- chmod +x bootstrap.py (gives executable file permissions to the script)

- ./bootstrap.py (actually runs the script). The first problem I encountered was the rustup version. It was solved with rustup install stable and rustup default stable
- Build the sources with ./mach build and then run with ./mach run
The whole building process lasted approximately 8 minutes on my AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor and required 30.1 GiB (32,355,790,419), 1,401,719 files, 138,437 sub-folders

After 24 years, bug report finally gets fixed …
“The missing interface capability, reported back on Friday, November 12, 1999, was closed on Monday, July 22. Those using Thunderbird with applicable Linux desktops should henceforth see an appropriate system tray notification upon receipt of new mail.”
